Walmart tests stores as 3P seller fulfilment hubs
Walmart is testing store back rooms as mini-fulfilment hubs for third-party marketplace goods in a bid to speed ecommerce delivery and challenge Amazon. The retailer said the trial, under way in several Dallas outlets, would initially offer selected marketplace items through its existing pickup and delivery service. eMarketer estimates Walmart’s US marketplace sales at less than USD14 billion last year, while Amazon’s US marketplace sales reached USD333 billion.
