Tesco said to be considering Majestic Wine bid
UK supermarket Tesco is exploring a takeover of Majestic Wine, joining bidders for Britain’s largest specialist wine retailer. Owner Fortress Investment Group launched a sale process several weeks ago, with analysts suggesting Majestic could fetch hundreds of millions of pounds. Majestic operates more than 200 outlets across the UK and Jersey and employs over 1,000 people. Tesco’s last major acquisition was its GBP3.7 billion purchase of wholesaler Booker in 2018.
