US retailer Target has appointed Chandhu Nair as its first chief AI officer, effective 24 August, to coordinate AI across the business. Nair will focus on areas including understanding customer needs, inventory management, employee tools and decision-making. Target also promoted Purvi Shah to senior vice president of user experience, with AI and UX teams working together to improve customer, employee and partner experiences. (Target)
