Schwarz Group reports good progress on plastic reduction
Lidl and Kaufland reduced plastic use in private label primary packaging and transport by 36% versus 2017, exceeding the 30% target under its Reset Plastic strategy. The retailers used 26% recycled material in own-brand plastic packaging, above a 25% goal. However, recyclability reached 67%, missing the 100% target. Schwarz Group said regulatory hurdles affected progress, and will now pursue broader packaging goals through Reset Resources by 2030. (Lebensmittel Praxis)
