The EU has launched a tender for up to seven AI gigafactories, aiming to mobilise more than EUR30 billion in public and private investment. Schwarz Digits, Deutsche Telekom and Ionos are among the applicants. The facilities will combine advanced processors, Cloud technology and high-speed networks, with initial selections expected in early 2027. Construction could begin that year, with the first sites operational within 18 months of contracts being awarded. (Retail-News)
