Mercadona has opened its first semi-automated online fulfilment centre in Vallecas, Madrid, following a EUR54 million investment. The 32,000m2 facility can handle 5,000 orders a day, uses 70 robots and employs 700 people. It is Mercadona’s third Madrid “Colmena” and seventh in Spain, lifting regional capacity to 8,000 daily orders. Online sales exceeded EUR1 billion in 2025, up 26% YoY. (Mercadona)
