Germany’s Bundeskartellamt has raised significant competition concerns over Edeka’s planned acquisition of 202 tegut supermarkets, 41 automated teo outlets, a bakery and DC from Migros Zurich. The regulator identified issues in 37 regional markets, particularly in Hesse, Thuringia, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, where Edeka already has a strong position. It said Edeka’s proposed remedies were insufficient, although procurement concerns alone would not justify blocking the deal. (ESM)
