Edeka tests handheld scanning at independent store

German supermarket group Edeka has introduced Scan&Go handheld scanners at its independently operated Tiemann outlet in Jaderberg. Customers scan products while shopping, track spending and complete payment using a QR code at staffed or self-service checkouts. The service requires no registration or separate app and supports standard payment methods, Edeka’s app and Payback loyalty cards. The system aims to reduce checkout times and eliminate the need to unload shopping. (Edeka)
