Edeka Südwest is gradually phasing out the Marktkauf brand in favour of E-Center. Several independently run hypers are due to be rebranded this year, with further conversions planned. Reports say Marktkauf has become largely irrelevant for independent retailers and no longer met expectations in the current market.
