Carrefour develops a proprietary checkout algorithm
Carrefour has developed in-house computer vision algorithms to reduce checkout losses. Its Scovision project uses cameras above self-checkouts to compare products near customers with those scanned, and has been installed in more than 100 outlets, including 85 in France. The retailer is also testing image recognition to monitor checkout flows and waiting times, supporting real-time staffing alerts and workforce planning automation. (Olivier Dauvers)
