Amazon sheds jobs at its AGI division

US ecommerce and technology group Amazon has cut an undisclosed number of roles within its artificial general intelligence division as it refocuses investment on projects offering greater customer value. The restructuring follows leadership departures and the unit’s transfer under senior vice-president Peter DeSantis. Amazon continues investing heavily in AI, including its Nova models, despite eliminating around 16,000 corporate jobs in January 2026. (CNBC)
