Amazon reveals extent of satellite internet ambitions
Amazon has filed with US regulators to deploy up to 5,105 low-Earth-orbit satellites connecting compatible mobile devices directly to voice, messaging, data and emergency services. Deployment is expected to begin in 2028, with Amazon Leo partnering mobile operators to extend coverage beyond terrestrial networks. The service will use Globalstar spectrum and support applications including disaster response, fleet management, remote operations and connected sensors. (Amazon)
