Amazon makes key acquisition to advance satellite project

Amazon agreed to acquire Globalstar to add direct-to-device services to its Amazon Leo low-Earth orbit satellite network, extending voice, text and data coverage beyond terrestrial mobile networks. The group said the system would begin rolling out from 2028 and would support future satellite services. Amazon said its investment in Leo, combined with Globalstar’s spectrum and satellite assets, would strengthen service resilience for consumers, businesses and governments. (Amazon)
