Aldi Süd to shed 1,500 roles in restructuring move

Aldi Süd is reportedly planning up to 1,500 job cuts, mainly at its Mülheim an der Ruhr site, with many roles expected to go at its IT subsidiary. The discounter expanded IT staffing during its digitalisation push but has since outsourced more work to external providers. Aldi Süd was said to have cut around 100 accounting roles last year, followed by around 400 more jobs in early 2026. The company reportedly denied financial distress and said it did not comment on internal matters. (BILD)
