Aldi Nord sets its face against loyalty apps

German discount retailer Aldi Nord said it will not introduce app-only discounts, arguing all shoppers should receive the same prices without needing loyalty apps or digital coupons. The retailer said app-based promotions add complexity and can encourage consumers to spend up to 30% more. Instead, it will continue offering uniform pricing, highlighting its limited assortment, private-label focus and low-cost operating model. (Aldi Nord)
