Albertsons opioid case begins in Washington state

Washington state has begun an opioid trial against US grocer Albertsons, alleging its pharmacies repeatedly ignored warning signs of prescription misuse. The retailer dispensed more than 641 million opioid pills in the state between 2006 and 2022 and allegedly filled 6.5 million prescriptions without adequately resolving red flags. Albertsons, which operates over 200 Washington pharmacies, recently agreed a USD773.8 million multi-state opioid settlement. (Supermarket News)
